Gaze is a series of film extracts in which passersby - at the back of scenes shot in urban public spaces - look in the direction of the camera, knocking down the fourth wall. The selection of these scenes highlights the passersby alien incursion into the fiction of the story. The enlargement of the images and the superimposition of the recordings gives the images a ghostly appearance, characteristic of video surveillance. In this sense, the series can be interpreted as a ritual of exalting the narrative defect or the celebration of the image of subjects unwittingly lending themselves to the role of extras.
